Why Dereham Sixth Form?
The excellent outcomes we achieve are the result of great team work – highly skilled, passionate and enthusiastic tutors, teachers and support staff alongside keen, hardworking students who quickly establish a great work ethic and the ambition to achieve their full potential and go on to great things
Teaching is carried out by a combination of full and part time post 16 specialists, who are based permanently at the sixth form, aided by selected teachers from Northgate and Neatherd High Schools who come over to teach their sixth form specialist subjects.
Students are set target grades from the moment their first lesson begins and are encouraged to meet and exceed these from day one. Progress, based on regular assessed assignments in all subjects, is carefully tracked and monitored by tutors and information sent home to parents at regular points during the year.
It’s our belief that a student is most likely to achieve their full potential if they are happy and well supported. This is certainly an aspect of college life which we take very seriously and one which Ofsted has described as ‘outstanding’.
Sixth Form is a challenging time it itself and some students may also be struggling with issues which are beyond the expertise of their tutors. For this reason we enlist the help and support of a trained counsellor and a life coach/mentor from whom students can receive confidential advice, guidance and support throughout the year.
