The cafe often has special deals for hungry students
Throughout the day students and staff can buy healthy snacks, meals
and drinks to eat in or take away with a good selection of hot food,
sandwiches, baguettes, wraps and salads all freshly prepared in the
cafe. A selection of vegetarian options is always on offer.
Food choices are healthy and varied with the menu changing daily.
Prices are low making meals and snacks extremely good value for
everyone.
It's a great place for
students to meet up throughout the day to chat, catch up on homework,
read the daily papers and, of course, enjoy the superb food provided by
the friendly staff.
College staff also make good use of the cafe and enjoy socialising with
students when time allows
The
cafe has been so successful that we have added a new conservatory to
extend the indoor seating area
If it gets too crowded inside, there is
extra outdoor seating with picnic tables and benches sited around the
college as well as outside the cafe. These are extremely popular
in the summer and the cafe staff often provider lunchtime barbecue food
throughout the summer term
Some beautiful work is produced every year and there is always an impressive display of work around the buildings.
From September 2010 the Art Department will also be making use of the NEW Design Studio which enables the college to offer a new A level in Graphic Communication
MUSIC
A number of students study
Music at the College and are well catered for by the Music Department.
We have all the equipment needed to pursue the A level Music course with
the added bonus of being able to make free use of the additional
facilities at both Neatherd and Northgate High Schools
BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS
The college has lab facilities for each of the sciences which are maintained by excellent technical support staff. A wide range of scientific study takes place as well as the three main sciences - subjects such as Science in Society, Environmental Science and Human Biology have all been added to the available courses recently and there is an active Astronomy group at the College, led by one of the high school staff.
THE LIBRARY AND RESOURCE AREA
The library/resource area is an
important part of the College, providing a quiet place for study. It is
an excellent resource centre to help you with your studies and with the
choices you will have to make about careers and/or higher education.
The area is open at all times and the librarian is only too happy to
assist should students need help with any of the equipment or
resources
There are over five thousand books in the library , supporting all the A Level and other examination subjects.
One weekly and four daily newspapers are delivered to keep you up to date with current events.
Magazine subscriptions cover a wider variety of subjects, some of which are also available online (there are 18 computers within the library).
DVDs and videos are available on short loan, free of charge. Our Modern Foreign Languages department is well represented with a good selection of fiction, DVDs and literature as well as grammar books and dictionaries. The library resources are continually being updated and added to, providing plenty of opportunities for independent study and research.
We have a wealth of up to date careers information in the form of leaflets, books, videos and computer software
Decisions about Higher Education are made easier with the use of the internet which can be accessed on the networked PCs. There is detailed information on all the university and college courses and the information is supported by the prospectuses for all the universities and colleges available for overnight loan.
The library has a photocopier which is primarily for student use. There is a small charge for personal photocopying. There is a also a small, non-profit making shop within the library which stocks a good range of stationery as well as art and photography materials.
THE MAIN HALL
The also hall serves as a venue for year group meetings where important information is imparted to students, as well as a meeting place for events such as drama productions, charity events (quiz night) higher education and other meetings involving parents.
For two periods during the year, the hall is also utilised for exams..
As well as the outdoor area around the Cafe, We have some great recreational areas which are especially useful during the Spring and Summer terms. Students can enjoy lunchtimes and free periods in the open air and use one of the many picnic tables to work or eat lunch.
The football field is very popular for taking part in sport or relaxing between lessons and at the end of the summer term is put to good use for the Fun Sports Day and barbeque
