Presentation Evening

The envelopes were sealed, the awards printed and the cups polished. Last Thursday evening we held our annual Presentation Evening celebrating the achievements of our previous years’ Leavers. After a welcome by College Director, Mr Atkin, the Evening was handed over to Miss Read, the Head of Year 13, who gave her reflections and memories of the 2023 Leavers.

Each student was then invited up to the stage to collect their examination certificates. Whilst they received their certificates, we heard about the qualifications they had gained and the various paths they have now chosen to follow. In with their certificates, no fewer than 37 students also received a certificate from Norfolk County Council identifying them as a Norfolk Scholar. Norfolk Scholar is a special recognition given by the Council to students who achieve a high points score by getting a minimum of two A* or A grades and one C, or one A*, one A and two Bs, or two Distinctions and one Merit. Following this, the anticipation grew – it was time to announce the winners of the Subject and College Awards! The Subject Awards were announced first with subject teachers having chosen one student per subject in recognition of excellent attainment, achievement, and/or attitude. This year we also had an extra prize to announce. Every two years, the College takes an intrepid group of students to New York and Washington DC. Whilst there, Mr Elphick (Head of Media Studies) runs a photography competition. After assessing all the entries he, Mrs Wright (Photography teacher) and Mrs Chávez (Librarian) were unanimous in their decision to award first place to Shona Gregory. The Evening concluded with closing words from Mr Atkin and photographs before everyone moved to the Conservatory for refreshments and a chance to catch up.

We had a lovely Evening and wish every one of our students the greatest success in all they do.
