Psychology Conference 2023

Last Thursday we hosted textbook author, teacher and ex-senior examiner Jean-Marc Lawton, along with around 100 students from Taverham High School, Ormiston Victory Academy, Attleborough Academy, Fakenham Academy and Reepham College for our annual Psychology Conference. Each year, Jean-Marc comes to us to give Year 13 students incredible advice on exam technique. His main message? 1. Identify the question. 2. Identify the type of answer required. 3. Nail it! Do exactly what’s required and nothing else!

For AQA A Level Psychology, our students learn about social influence, memory, attachment, psychopathology, approaches in psychology, biopsychology, research methods, issues and debates in psychology, cognition and development, schizophrenia and forensic psychology. Jean-Marc chose four of the topics to focus on for the Conference – research methods, memory, biopsychology and attachment. During the first session on research methods the students completed a mini practical to demonstrate the best way to deal with answering questions on the topic in the exam.
