Just before half term, our A Level Art & Design students across the four subjects (Art, Craft and Design, Fine Art, Graphic Design and Photography) went to Cambridge for the day. The purpose of the trip was to observe and record from direct observation and create a series of studies to inform their final outcomes. Our students visited the museum’s permanent collection and secured a visit to their temporary exhibition – Real Families: Stories of Change.
The group met at College at 8.20am and then travelled by minibus to Cambridge Park and Ride where they travelled in to the city centre. They were set three tasks:
- Collect resources and information from the museum. Create four studies with one in detail, all of which will be included within their A Level submission.
- Record your experience of Cambridge city centre, enjoying the small galleries, vast range of shops and market stalls.
- Create a piece of work in a medium of your choice in response to, and inspired by, the whole visit.
At 2.30pm the group caught the bus back to the Park and Ride and then returned to College.
This was an amazing opportunity for students which will enrich them culturally ad will contribute to their portfolio submissions.
