Bletchley Park Visit

On Tuesday 22nd March, Bletchley Park Outreach visited and presented a session on the workings of the Enigma machine. The speaker explained how the machine worked and the code variants – challenging the students to calculate the number of combinations. Fun fact: if you tried one combination every second it would take 449 times the length of time the universe has been in existence to try them all! Ultimately it was human complacency that allowed Turin and his team to actually get the initial set up information, to allow messages to be decoded.
