Regional Heat for the Articulation Prize

On Wednesday, Mrs Wright had the pleasure of accompanying three of our Art & Design students to the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts for the Regional Heat of the Articulation Prize. Due to an extra spot becoming available, Keziah Ansell was able to join Silas (who won the first round of heats), along with students from City of Norwich School, Jane Austin College, Hills Road Sixth Form College and Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form in delivering illustrated presentations to an audience, as well as artist and adjudicator Harold Offeh. Offeh is an artist who works in performance, video, photography, learning and social arts practice. He thanked all the speakers for their hard work, research, attention to detail, fantastic delivery and their confidence in sharing their research and passions. He went on to thank all of the teachers, acknowledging their incredible work and support.

Offeh congratulated Silas on his fantastic presentation and on choosing to focus on an artist that causes debates and arguments. He applauded Silas for bringing in a really great and different perspective, for his thorough research and data analysis! Offeh congratulated Keziah on her excellent dissection of Winterhalter’s painting. He applauded Keziah for her close analysis of the details of fashion and posture and for bringing the work of art to life. The Articulation team said,  “It was a great pleasure to hear Silas and Keziah speak and we all hope that they are both feeling very proud of their amazing achievement.”

The opportunity was an invaluable experience which helped our students develop their oracy, research skills, presentation skills, critical thinking, visual analysis and increased confidence, amongst many others. Whilst Kezia and Silas weren’t successful in progressing to the Grand Final we would like to congratulate them both on completing their Articulation journey, and offer our congratulations to the student who will be representing the region in London.

Mrs Wright is looking forward to offering this opportunity to next years students!
