Success in the Norfolk Art & Design Competition

Every year, our talented Fine Art, Photography and Art, Craft & Design students enter the Norfolk Art & Design Competition. Run by Norwich University of the Arts (NUA), it showcases student work from sixth forms and colleges across the county. Since it began in 2017 we have had eight students shortlisted and between them they have achieved Second, Third and Highly Commended places. This year we were delighted that Shona Gregory (Year 12), Hannah Reid (Year 13) and Beth Payton (Year 13) were shortlisted.

The shortlist was announced on the 6th June and has been available to view in an online showcase. A private viewing was held on the evening of the 28th June during which the winners were announced. We are very pleased to share with you that Beth was awarded Highly Commended. Beth’s work is entitled ‘Escapism’. “I made it in reflection of the current world problems that we’ve had to face recently such as the pandemic, lockdown and the war. It focuses on the feeling of being trapped and vulnerable alone.”

Mrs Mottley, Head of Design, says “I am extremely proud of all of our students’ entries and of course a special mention to the three selected shortlisted pieces on exhibition. The exhibition really showcased amazing talents across our young artists in Norfolk and it is always a great privilege to be invited to take part with the event in association with NUA. We were thrilled when Beth Payton was announced as an highly commended entry.”
