U19 Netball Tournament

The newly formed Dereham Sixth Form College Netball Club had taken part in just one training session when on a whim Ms Almond decided to enter them for the U19 Norfolk Netball Tournament at the UEA on Thursday 4th November. The 12 students from Years 12 and 13 were from several different high schools and had never played together before. They anticipated the tournament was going to be challenging when the group they drew included Wymondham College, Norwich School and Thetford Academy! Despite the tough competition and high level of Netball being played; the DSFC team played with determination, resilience and good humour. In the last match of the day they doubled their score and have already been invited for a friendly match against Greshams. The tournament organisers commented on their resilience, and maturity against teams with years of experience playing together. A fun afternoon was had by everyone and we returned to Dereham tired, but with a gritty determination to improve as a team. Well done everyone who played, scored and a special thanks to Mr Elphick and Mr Lound for providing transport!
