Your Online Resources are those that the College pays for, and those that we recommend, in order to help you find high quality, reliable and up-to-date information for your work. If you are not sure which resources to use, or would like some help in using them, please speak to Rachel.
Online Library Catalogue
Search here for all the books, journal articles and DVDs that are available in the Library, reserve items that are currently on loan and check you account for details of your current loans and reservations.

GeoFile
Helpful for students studying Geography, GeoFile contains case studies from around the world linked directly to your syllabus.

Kerboodle contains course resources and course ebooks for Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Google Scholar
Google Scholar allows you to find high quality information fast. A different search engine to ‘normal’ Google, it contains thousands of research articles that have been peer-reviewed by academics and extracts from Google Books. Look for those results that contain a PDF link in order to access the full article for free.

JSTOR
This database contains journal articles, primary sources and books. Whilst we don’t have a College subscription to the entire site, you can register for free and access a number of documents online.
Access JSTOR and login in before you search in order to make sure you only see the results you can access.
Phil Bradley’s Newspaper Search
Information specialist Phil Bradley has created a customised Google search that only looks for newspaper articles allowing you to quickly and easily search all the UK papers in one go.

BAILII (British and Irish Legal Information Institute)
BAILII provides free access to an up-to-date collection of British and Irish primary legal materials. You can search the entire database or select to only search for case law. You can also select to just search for cases in England and Wales and select the level of court.

Child Development Research
This is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes research articles from all over the world. Browse the contents or search the site to get the search option fields, then enter the journal title Child Development Research in addition to your keywords.

Gov.UK
In addition to being the best place to find government information and services, this site also provides access to government reports and publications. The link provided takes you straight to this area where you can choose to limit your search to the relevant department.

Created by a history teacher you can use this reliable site to find information on a range of history topics.

Useful for students studying BTEC CPLD, this organisation aims to improve education and learning by providing independent research and evidence. The link below will take you to their publications area which is particularly helpful for finding research documents.

The New Scientist site is helpful for students studying Psychology, R.S. Philosophy & Ethics and Computer Science as well as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

The Nursery World website gives you access to all the articles published in the fortnightly childcare journal, plus additional content. Some content is password protected. Please see or email Rachel who can give you print outs of anything you can’t access yourself.

Produced by the British Film Institute, this journal covers all areas of media from film and television to computer games. You can access a range of articles freely from the site.

Here you can search amongst current and decided cases that reached the highest court in the UK.

VADS (The Visual Arts Data Service)
VADS provides access to a wide range of visual arts collections containing over 100,000 freely available and copyright-cleared images. Search or browse for images in the arts, design and fashion. The site also contains a number of articles on art, design, fashion and textiles.
